Fall 2009 Seminars
We are pleased to report that the seminars this
year were a great success, thanks to all the amazing speakers who volunteered
their time and expertise, and to everyone who attended. Make sure we have your
contact information for upcoming seminars.
Professional Seminar
QUESTION: Can Family Court decisions erode or strengthen child-parent
attachments?
ANSWER: San Diego psychologists presented on key elements of
attachment including: history of attachment, basic concepts of how a child
develops adequate attachment to parents; neuro-substrates of attachment;
dimensions of attachment; measures of attachment; gender issues/myths in the
context of attachment research outcomes; and relevance to psychological
attachment for high-conflict evaluation and treatment. The presentations were
interesting and contributed to an energetic dialogue among the speakers, panel
and participants.
Parents Seminar
QUESTION: Do children really need both parents?
ANSWER: Parents learned what they could do during and after the
litigation/court process to protect and strengthen the parent-child bond. This
seminar provided information on the importance of maintaining parent/child
attachments after separation to ensure that parents raise a secure and confident
child. Parents, and professionals from the morning session, learned about local
resources that can provide support for parents and children during the challenge
of separation/divorce.
This was a new venue for our seminars and everyone was pleased and impressed with it so you can look forward to more great learning opportunities in this terrific setting. A big thank you to all the Conference and Catering Staff at the National University Business Park Campus located at 9388 Lightwave Avenue San Diego CA 92123 in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood. We will be back!
